Moses returns, Conte sent off as Chelsea edge Swansea
Victor Moses |
Super Eagles forward, Victor Moses has returned to action with English Premier League champions, Chelsea after being sidelined in nine games due to a hamstring injury.
Chelsea laboured against struggling Swansea City but were able to secure a 1-0 victory in a league encounter at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
The only goal of the night was scored by Germany defender Rudiger as he headed home after N’Golo Kante’s shot was deflected into his path in the 55th minute.
Swansea offered stubborn resistance to the home side. Even as Alvaro Morata, Pedro Rodriguez, Willian, Fabregas and Marcos Alonso all had shots on target, goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski did well to save them.
Moses, who started the game on the bench, came on for Davide Zappacosta in the 75th minute and helped his side hold on to victory.
Meanwhile, the Blues boss Antonio Conte spent the whole of the second half watching from a television feed as he was sent off after disputing the referee’s decision not to award a corner when the game was goalless.
Chelsea remain third in the table while Swansea stay 19th, three points from safety, after a ninth league defeat in 14 games this season.
