Club Africain defeat Rivers United in CAF Confederation Cup opener
Rivers United kicked off their opening Group A campaign of the 2017
CAF Confederation Cup, with a 3-1 defeat away to Club Africain of
Tunisia
Bilel Ifa and Oussama Darragi struck for the hosts, while Rivers United conceded an own goal.
Ifa opened scoring in the 23rd minute, following a dominant spell by
Club Africain. The Tunisian were awarded a penalty in the 43rd minute
and Darragi converted to double their lead.
John Odumegwu pulled one back for the Pride of Rivers, before Joseph Douhadji scored an own goal in the 71st minute of the encounter.
There was still time for Emeka Ogbugh to blast his penalty over.
Rivers United will face FUS Rabat in their next game in Port Harcourt, before travelling to Kampala to face KCCA FC on June 4.
